UNEARTHING TREMPEALEAU'S ARCHAEOLOGICAL HISTORY
The Shirley M. Wright Memorial Library display offers visitors a chance to walk through more than 12,000 years of Wisconsin's archaeological history from Paleoindian times to the present. Relevant artifacts from the area and historical illustrations give life to cultures who have made Trempealeau their home for millennia. The exhibit focuses on recent excavations in the Trempealeau community, which have unearthed remnants of the village's unique Mississippian colony dating back 1,000 years.
