WALK THROUGH TREMPEALEAU'S HISTORY: PAST & PRESENT
The Little Bluff Mounds Interpretive Trail highlights the changes that ancient Mississippian people made to the landscape. A trailhead kiosk provides visitors with information about the 1,000-year-old Mississippian settlement. A hiking trail meanders up Little Bluff where three temple mounds still stand. Interpretive signs are located on top of Little Bluff, as does a commanding view of the Mississippi River. People left Cahokia 1,000 years ago, traveled 530 miles up the Mississippi River and founded a community at Trempealeau. Why did they come? Where did they go? Come visit the Little Bluff Mounds Trail to learn more about what archaeologists have discovered.
